If I were u I wouldn't main a common character like smoke and ermac but if ur taking suggestions I would say kabal or Shang tsung...but I would say it depends on how good u are..cause i thing I'm really really good at mk..but I still don't want to main Shang tsung cause I want to have fun with this game and not struggle with his difficult ass combo moves lol..maybe I'm over exaggerating..NightWolf is another good one |

You should definetly main Mileena. A lot of people complain about Sub- Zero's slowness so I wont say him.
Mileena is a quick character, very speedy. You can pull of some awesome combos with her. Her moves change after ding certain other moves too, I dont know how many other characters do this but hers are fun.
Also, her enhanced moves are so useful. Some enhanced moves are useless and should just die but Mileena's ahve a point. Like you could enhance teleport kick, then enhanced sai throw. A simple special move combo roight there.
OK you dont have to listen to me, since I gathered all this info from the demo, but just try mastering Mileena. |

Cyrax destroys but his learning curve is a bit higher than the other characters.
If you are looking for a less common character that is super easy to pick up, I'd suggest Kitana, Sonya or perhaps Kabal.
The easiest characters to use are definitely Smoke and Scorpion. They also flood the online gaming community though. I hate mirror matches. |

Kabal, Liu Kang, Kitana and Stryker are all good ones
Jax and Kano on the other hand are kinda hard to use effectively. Also it depends on what kind of player you are. |

| Def Shang or Kano. Both have a very unique mixup of moves and answers for most of the other characters |

I main with Kung Lao, Scorpion, Ermac and Quan Chi.
I'd say you could main with any of those.
But others I play with from time to time are: Baraka, Johnny Cage and Cyber Sub-Zero.
I hope this helped.
But I'd say main with someone who is a higher tier, like at least 130 wins or so, it's just easier to win as those characters. |

if you are really good at memorizing special moves: Noob
if you want a rare charcter: Kabal
if you are bad at memorizing special moves: Ermac
if you are a pervert: Millena
if you hate scorpion: Sub zero
if you want to be a badass: Jax
if you are a girl: either Sonya or Kitana
if you want to be dum: Johnny cage
if youre a sci fi nerd: Cyrax or Sektor
if you suck *ock or are stupid or an idiot or like to be bad charcters: Sheeva
if you want to be a hero: Liu Kang
if you want to be a differnt hero: Kung lao
if you want to feel powerful: Raiden
if you are wierd: Baraka
if you are wierder: Reptile
if you are cool: Smoke
if you want to be a different badass: Kano
if you want to be a weak selfish *itch: Sindel
if you want to be a sorcerror: Quan Chi
if you are a rebel: Cyber sub zero
if you are good with everybody: Shang tsung

You should just try using everyone until you have a feel for someone, then you can practice with them. |

| This question is highly subjective but if you want someone with easy combo to damage output i would go with either Ermac or Smoke. I use neither one because i refuse to use overused characters not only that but im not a fan of them. |

Kung Lao. In terms of special's he covers everything.
Teleport(followed by a variety finishers for it, including an unblockable throw), a high and low projectile(hat throws), his dive kick is a great charge at almost any distance and his spin is great defense. |

No point in feeding the troll really.
Sheeva is actually a pretty good character if you can use her right. I think the game is surprisingly balanced but most people just gravitate towards the characters that are easy to use.
That being said, Reptile and Sektor seem to be my best characters, Sheeva coming third behind them and then Kitana and Sindel and Cyber Sub Zero.
But the OP should just try out everyone. They all have something to offer. |

Just try out every, thats what i'm doing. It's really down to personal preferance.. My best being Mileena, Scorpion and Baraka.

Word.
Some MK9 characters are easier to play/learn than others, this is true.
But I read EVERY SINGLE "This character sucks/is weak" statement as ignorance and a total inability to adapt.
Regarding the original question, have a go with any characters you like the look of, and go with the one you enjoy playing as, regardless of what anyone online pretends to know about what "tier" they are or whatever.
If you don't simply "like" your character's look and moves, then it defeats the object of learning them anyway. |
