Speaking exclusively to the PlayStation.Blog, NetherRealm Studios Creative Director Ed Boon has revealed that the PSVita port of Mortal Kombat (2011) will include a number of additional features when it debuts in Q2 2012.
Harnessing the power of Sony's latest handheld, players will be able to carry around last year’s Mortal Kombat (2011) in near identical form. Returning are all of the game’s modes, including the acclaimed Story Mode and Challenge Tower.
In addition to the original 300 challenges present on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, NetherRealm sought to expand the portable gaming experience by introducing a second Challenge Tower which adds a further 150 challenges. These have been specially formulated to take advantage of the PSVita’s internal features, including gyroscope and accelerometer. How these will affect gameplay remains to be seen, but the possibilities sure are tantalising.
Another welcome note is that the game will retain its smooth 60fps frame rate, albeit with slightly lower polygon models. Couple this with a smaller screen and fans should expect a game that looks almost identical to its big brother.
Looks like the PSVita port of Mortal Kombat (2011) is shaping up nicely, and will become a welcome addition to any Mortal Kombat fan's kitty. Will you be picking up the game when it drops later this year? |

| I never was too great at playing fighters on handheld consoles, but I'm still looking forward to this. I hope we get some crazy new Challenge Tower missions that really push the envelope. |

Fighters are fantastic on handheld systems on the go so long as they're not touchscreen or Nintendo branded. |

/agree.
MK Unchained was great for PSP, imo. I was also a big fan of Tekken 5's PSP port.
DS fighters, however, leave a lot to be desired. *points to Guilty Gear DS*
I'm currently undecided about actually purchasing a Vita, but, this has sort of swayed me in the direction of getting one. I'm going to wait for more details, obviously, but let's just hope it doesn't disappoint. |

Lot of good stuff common on the MK front. The Vita I expect will do very well with this game if it is a launch title. |

| I will end up buying the PSVita, but I doubt I will be purchasing this title. I got bored with Mortal Kombat within a month of getting it. |

| Picking this up for sure! It just sucks that the Vita is not yet compatible with Mac,. I hope that you can actually play without the touchscreen feature and that the d-pad is good enough. |

Ever seen Street Fighter 4 and it's siblings? That's pretty much business. If something is doing so good, why stop?
Can't say much about fighters on handhelds but I recall having a fun time with Tekken on the PSP. The controls were surprisingly fine. |

If it is true then they had also better be on the Komplete Edition. No sense in having exclusive characters on the portable version, gamers will feel left out or screwed. |
