In a new video released by GameSpot, NetherRealm Studios producer Hector Sanchez explores new features exclusively designed for the Playstation Vita port of Mortal Kombat (2011). Many of these innovative features will take advantage of the Vita’s accelerometer and touch screen.
One of the most intriguing new aspects of Mortal Kombat for the Vita is the addition of the “Test Your Balance” missions. These missions utilize the Vita’s accelerometer and require the player to keep their character balanced for a set period of time. Failing a mission will result in death by falling into a large pit, which appears to be a clever homage to Mortal Kombat 4’s famous continue screen.
Sanchez also gives insight into the use of the Vita’s touch screen. In addition to being used for several Challenge Tower missions, this game will feature touch screen Fatalities, a nice addition especially for newer players who have difficulty memorizing Fatality inputs. X-ray moves can also be performed now by simply tapping the X-ray meter on the screen.
All previously released DLC characters, costumes, and Fatalities are available for this game, including some brand new alternate costumes.
A final point of interest for the Vita version of Mortal Kombat is the redesigned Challenge Tower which contains 150 missions, including one that allows the player to play as the sinister Shao Kahn. It is worth mentioning that the new Challenge Tower will have an even greater reward at the end, according to Sanchez.
This is certainly looking rather intriguing. I'm loving the idea of the "Test your balance", however, it does seem to be rather difficult. But, I'm all for the fact they're taking full advantage of the Vita's abilities and offering new things to refresh the game.

It all looks good n stuff. Really it does. But marshmallows be burnt if I'll be forking out for yet another system to play a re-hashed MK game. I'm still trying to get half of my trophies for MK9 on my PS3. Oddly enough though, I sold my PSP a few months ago.

Def getting the Vita for this game, and there's other games as well to check out, but I'm glad they finally got costumes for the DLC characters, can't wait to see what's in store in this version of the game, and I love the touch screen fatality idea, looks epic
Hot damn, this is starting to look better than the current version content wise. Some of this had better be on the Komplete Edition, such as the new costumes. Cyber Smoke fans, get hyped.
Also I'd like to offer my thoughts on what the new reward for the second challenge tower will be.

As pathetic as it sounds, I would have actually purchased a Vita and this game if it was confirmed that they were adding more remade classic stages and/or fighters. Some extra costumes, challenge tower missions, and motion control gimmicks just isn't enough to warrant buying another version of this game.
^ I hope all the classic characters have all of their classic costumes. Accurate classic costumes, I'm talking true MK3 unmasked Sub-Zero. Not UMK3 minus the mask (although I didn't mind). Here's hoping this this turns out to be true.
For Freddy it would be cool to see his "Wes Craven's New Nightmare" design as an alternate costume.
For Kratos, since they recycled him straight from God Of War 3 I'd like to see more costumes for him considering most other characters in the game will have plenty so why not him if possible? Dominus would make another good costume, or at least the option to have the Blades of Athena.
But I'm just rambling on, seeing new outfits just got me all hyped up for this game all over again.
