Well, I survived the gauntlet I long since dreaded.
Went to a family party today and nearly everyone was bringing up the fact that I was now 21 and legal for drinking. I had many relatives including my older sister and my father try to get me to take at least one drink of any alcohol. I remained true to myself and turned down all offers, instead going with water since it was the only healthy thing to drink.
My sister tried the most, and in the end she playfully told me how lame of me it was to not even give it a try (mentioning how alcohol and such is an acquired taste). I just kept drinking my water.
All my life I've seen nothing but terrible things result from drinking. I hate it, I hate that it's an accepted poison in society and I hate what it does to people. My own family is a very example of why not to drink.
I don't need liver damage to relax and I don't need alcohol to have a good time with others. I prefer having good health and being able to recall what I did when I was having fun.
To any on Kami who drink, by all means go ahead. I'm not judging you, I'm just expressing how much I despise drinking.
If I accomplish nothing else in my life then I can die proud knowing I was the first in my family not to be an alcoholic in any way. No matter what anyone says, that's an accomplishment no one can take from me. |

Hey guys, been a while... crazy i tend to think about friends i've never actually met. I miss you all. It's been a crazy year.. and i apologize for not checking in for some time. lmao! We have a similar situation in my house. I use these environmentally friendly bulbs that start off very dim, and they brighten up over like 2 minutes or so. So if I go to the bathroom in the night I don't even bother and I just use my iPhone's light lol. |

I'm real excited and a little nervous... It's not rocket science, no, but it isnt something one can just blow off. It's a little trickier than it looks. I'm just... Yeah. I'm a little nervous. |

I just agree with you! One of my first memory of my father is he get drunk! I'm very happy drinking water, juice or soda on the parties!

You'll be alright, and its good to hear! You've had some troubles with your folks, if I recall, and this should serve to help ease them off your back a bit.
RE: Alcohol...I'm the first male in my family to avoid being an alcoholic. Beyond my son, I'm also the only male not to. My brother has cut way back on drinking since his lady is pregnant, and they have a house. But he still drinks pretty often. My dad was an alcoholic until he crashed his Harley one year. He never drank again, but he had for the majority of his life. My mom doesn't drink, but my uncles and aunts on both sides do.
It's just never been the thing for me. I tried it all...and alcohol just always made me feel crappy. I'd have to go to the bathroom like immediately, I hated feeling flushed, its embarrassing (and a little pathetic) to stumble around and break shit because you're uncoordinated, puking sucks, headaches suck and I've never seen something good come of alcohol. Granted, something bad doesn't happen every time, but I've never seen anything good result because of alcohol.
So I don't drink. I'll have a glass of merlot at fancy dinners, and a cold beer during the Super Bowl but that's literally it. Don't like the taste, the way it makes me feel, or the way it makes good people act.
But to each their own. I only advise being careful. Its a shame to set out with the intention of having fun, just to let something like the drink take that all from you. |

Thank God I became pregnant. I was drinking way too much last year, and still smoking cigarettes once in a while, and pot every weekend. Pregnancy forced me to quit, and while I used to miss it, I don't anymore.
My dad died from lung cancer that went into his brain, and looking back, I was a total moron for continuing to smoke. I'll never go back. |

Hi folks. Long time no see.
It's been a rather hectic month for me. One reason is because, after five years, I'm moving house in a month. We've decided to move to a nice 18 acre property about 20 minutes out of town. So I'll be inactive yet again in about three or four weeks.
I'm now facing a problem: I've got too much stuff! My new room is a lot smaller, But the lounge room is bigger. So I'm thinking of options. Rent out storage? Sell some stuff?
I've been thinking about taking my figures out of their boxes for room. That is, if I don't intend to sell them in the future.
Phew. Busy month ahead indeed... |

@ Moon, Austin, Dryka and TJ i'm giving all of you good post karma because I'm so glad to see there are still a few people in the world who have got enough respect for themselves and those who care about them to the point where they'd abstain completely from potentially addicting/harmful substances despite that they are legal, easily accessable and probably tempting on certain occasions. You're all perfect examples of the person i'd like to be once I'm of age. I'm sure nearly everybody around me is going to want me to share a drink or have a smoke with them at some point or another once I hit 21 and I feel like resisting that all the time is going to be difficult if not impossible. but my self and those who matter most to me take priority over everything else in the universe and I want to never put myself in a situation which jeopardises the safety or personal well being of either therefore i too am going to do my best to drink only in moderation if at all, never smoke 1 cigarette as long as I live and of course stay the fuck away from drugs forever ^^
just got back from vacation, was pretty sweet. My sister took alot of pictures while we were there so i dunno maybe i'll show u guys one or 2 if she ever uploads them <_< |
