RE: New MK movie CONFIRMED Reply with quote
Yeah when I found out this news, it just totally brightened me up. As long as Matt Mullins returns as Cage, and Ryan Robbins as Raiden, I'm satisfied. They are absolutely perfect for their roles. My favorite episode was actually the Raiden one, as some might strongly disagree but whatever; Ryan did a brilliant job.

Kevin Tanchareon is a talented director, so I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do with this film. From what I know there is a pretty good budget for it as well, so that is another good thing to hear. I highly, highly doubt it will be a straight-to-DVD release type deal. If it miraculously did turn out to be, my year would be ruined, plain and simple.

I've also been hearing different things too, but from what I read, I believe the film will have no relation to MK Legacy. Don't know for sure though, but I guess we'll see in a bit. I've been waiting way too long to watch MK on the big screen, I've been dreaming about this! It will be a good day.

hopefully it will be better tha Mortal Kombat The Movie and Mortal Kombat Anihilation. Although that won't be hard to beat because those two movies are about as good as having a buffalo taking a diorhea dump in your ear.

I thought the first Mortal Kombat was good. Yeah, the second one was horrible, but the first was good especially considering it was PG 13.

There are five great fighter in the realms. Those fighters are:
1. Johnny Cage
2. Johnny Cage
3. Johnny Cage
4. Johnny Cage
5. Johnny Cage

The first MK movie almost used too much mysticism. And was intentionally cheesy.

Me personally, I didn't like Rebirth because it completely took out all the mysticism. However, the Kitana/Mileena episode of Legacy had too much, felt too middle-Earthy, especially with the Baraka-Orc.

However, I enjoyed most of Legacy. Especially the Raiden episode. That's what Kevin needs to use as a reference. The mysticism is there, but don't over-flaunt it. Just tease us with it, and periodically do something badass.

And while maintaining some originality, it would be nice if they could stay true to the characters.

I would like or the movie to be filmed as if in the 1970's-1980's period. Kind of like Highlander for instance. With the blood and gore style centered on slasher films of that era, which would make the blood and gore look super realistic in my perspective. Staying true to the storyline is essential, besides you could do something original with the story some other time on a different movie. Originallity can also be incorporated while keepin the storyline original in many ways I think

With Kevin Tancharoen still attached to direct from Oren Uziel’s screenplay, we’ve exclusively discovered that the live-action reboot will follow a lowly unlucky supermarket employee who discovers that he has out of this world powers and must decide between good and evil, even though the evil side has helped him discover his true potential and who he really is.

Sounds like it is Shang Tsung, that unlucky supermarker worker. Remember that he is from EarthRealm? And that it is magical powers, that consumed him to become evil sorcerer of Outworld? Same thing is in this strange description, that has no actual sources.

How about we give up on a Mortal Kombat movie all together? I mean at this rate other video games have slightly better chances. At least we're getting a promising video game based film this year from Disney/Pixar. Why don't we forget about this one and focus on that instead?

KT has commented on the "supposed" plot:

Rumor what rumor? I also heard that 2012 is real and TMNT are aliens!

To me, it sounds more like a background for Liu Kang, supporting himself in America.

Or Ed Boon probably came up with it just to screw with fans, lol.

ComicBookMovie posted an article recently that reveals the budget Director Kevin Tancharoen will have to work with for the upcoming MK reboot, which is $40,000,000 - $50,000,00. The first MK movie's budgets was $18,000,000, and movies like The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises had budgets of $200,000,000+. Hopefully this means the movie won't have anything as shoddy/terrible as the animated final battle from the second movie, or anything potentially worse.

Forty to fifty mil sounds reasonable. There have been many great films made with small budgets, and shitty ones with large sums of cash.
