Yesterday I was scheduled for an afternoon shift of 1:30pm-6:00pm. My replacement called off due to a family emergency and the morning shift people can not be given too many hours, so that just left one other person that could be sought to replace me. Since it was her day off, she did not answer her phone (likely enjoying her off day) and thus it was left to me to take the extra shift so I did. I did my shift, I did someone else's shift, and I did extra work on top of that. And guess what, it still wasn't enough. I did my cashier work, I kept the register area as tidy as possible, I did pricing and stocking, I crushed boxes, I ran the store on my own when the assistant manager went on break or lunch, I organized and brought forward all items in half the aisles, I threw out my garbage, I did my resale (returning misplaced items where they belong), I helped customers I was needed. A little over nine hours and the assistant manager and I still were not able to finish everything. Obviously we are understaffed.
Oh but when I mention if we're ever going to hire I get "No, we're fine. We have enough people". Really? Is that why I'm often asked to stay longer to cover someone else's work? The store needs to hire people and get them trained before the holidays otherwise we'll be dying from under trained new hand and over worked veterans.
This Saturday I find out whether or not I can jump ship to a more sane (and smaller) store. I'm crossing my fingers that I can because I saw my work schedule for next week.  |

And you'll miss college once it's nothing but work and bills. I know it seems so shitty and boring now, but try your best to relish it man, its really not as bad as it seems. I used to complain about school so much, but now I've been out almost as long as you've been in, and I wish I could go back to the simpler times of homework and social life. Just hang in there!
Edit...OfTheMoon....you guys (your co-workers) should get together, and demand a raise if they refuse to hire more staff. If you're over-worked, you should be compensated for it. I don't suggest a strike or anything, but collectively go to your boss and just tell him "Hey, we're working too hard for the pay we're making. We either need more help or more pay" and see if you can't get yourself a sweet raise!  |

First day back to school was definitely pretty cool. Got to see everybody again, and have some pretty chill teachers this year. Hell, I even have gym last which basically ends my day earlier. I will say Spanish 4 Honors will be a pain though, considering we get points off our grade if we speak any English -_-. Other then that it should be a pretty fun year! 2 more years to go until college... |

A fly got in my right eye the other day. It was a rather painful and ackward walk back home. Heh, still beats that one time that I had to throw out a dead rat that was hiding behind the fridge using only a fork. The smell almost made me vomit  |

I have become distant with the Internet over the past month, but a spark in me decided to pay you all a visit.
I am in a good place after my move and car came in from Germany. It feels good to have my things once again. The weather in Seoul is also taking a turn and is perfect now. It is really brining up my mood. |

Thanks Austin, unfortunately I'm only one of two that thinks this way. The other co-worker does not plan to stay much longer and neither do I. This place is a good place to start a first job but it's a dead end beyond that. Myself and another never received our W2s so that tells you of the service quality of the corporate office.
Time to move on. |

I just don't know anymore.
I had a discussion that turned into an argument where I managed to get several of my 'misconceptions' out of my head and off my chest.
So, it turns out that they're not trying to change me- they just want me to leave my 'safety zone', if you will.
still unsure if if I wasn't their son, they would consider me 'human trash'. I'm sure it's not that... just something else.
Found out, though, that because I tried to explain to them that they're raising their kids old-fashioned, and I'm not exactly old-fashioned- and neither is the world anymore, I somehow wound up saying that their way of teaching is wrong.
Funny. That's exactly what they say about every other damn parent on the planet. I also pointed that out to them... which didn't help my case much.
'Leave my safety zone.'
Try something I've never tried before just to see if I like it. I guess I never showed that I was like that, just like I never show how I care about my family, or how I apparently would rather prefer to sit on my ass and watch/play/talk about bullshit than go out and help someone.
Oh, and the gap in maturity between me and others my age- I was reminded of it.
How I don't notice the little things, or show how I am grown up with the little things.
How I haven't found my passion in life, yet- aside from the bullshit, which, apparently, I let control and consume my life.
How I have such a wonderful choice of 'friends'.
How someone that was 22 years old was SO MUCH different- SO FREAKING SUCCESSFUL, and he's only a few years older than I am.
Gee. What a way to get me motivated to start 'growing up'.
oh, and to help boost my confidence. Yeah. Wonderful job. |

| Well I stopped freaking out about my future and have told my parents my plans (except for the moving out next year part). They are for it which makes me think I havnt made a dumb choice. It's relieving. |

Well i had the worst first day of back to school ever. the school has been relocated and i seriously have no idea where any of the entrances are. Everyone is glad to see each other and don't care about me, but then again they never did. I got my citizenship GCSE back and i failed and got a D.
Then i was kept back for a stupid science test which i guess went ok and i was supposed to be meeting my mum outside the school. unfortunately my mum had no idea it was a half day so i was left stranded in the middle of nowhere for like an hour until i found my way back into the school and phoned her up and waited for a further 30 mins. so yeah i just wish my holidays would have lasted longer |

@sword1119 - I hear the frustration and pain you are facing over the tumultuous relationship you have with your parents, and I can feel the weight it is causing you to bear. Remember that you will one day have the opportunity to break free and live life for yourself and your own ambitions. You have opportunity ahead of you. Prepare for it and know that you might have to be on your own for a while. That is the time where you show yourself that you can make it on your own and be a responsible person with your own values and moral systems.
Be a good person. Look for the best in a situation. Do your best. If you can make yourself proud, you don't need the approval of anyone else. |
