Completed Leon/Helena campaign on easy story mode last night.
And I have to admit That I was satisfied with what I have played so far.
See below for more info.
WARNING!!! DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY PLAYED RE6
Simmons:
Leon story has brand new boss. Simmons. A scientist control freak.
He is the final boss. Very freaky. And he is extremely tough to beat. The battle continues for a long time across several levels. Lots of Ada involvement here.
Shark with arms
There is A giant mutant shark with arms. At this stage you have to swim and you run out of breath and get caught underwater. The controls took some getting used to.
Grappling etc:
Climbing near the end is all about timing. But it gets hard due to Simmons coming after you. QTE are also in need of getting used to. There's a frantic QTE in the game here that is actually quite easy once you figure it out.
Chris vs. Leon:
They finally clash. Or do they. These two RE icons fight, and .... You'll have to play to find out what happens. It's pretty cool. Well done story
Fat zombies:
LMAO! Imagine Blob from the Wolverine movie. They look like him. Best line from Leon was "I DIDN'T KNOW THEY CAME IN EXTRA LARGE!" I laughed when he said this.
Controls & Hud:
I am still not a fan of the new controls. But having said that, I am now much better with them. It's great being able to keep running, walking or moving while adjusting your inventory n stuff. The addition of the case is great for quick herbal top-ups etc. But I am still getting used to that.
Zombies are back in force!
There are some truly great and epic moments in RE6 so far. There is one scene where you are in a subway and it is BLACK. In the distance you see a horde of undead running your way. Reminiscent of 28 Days Later.
Hot naked sister:
First boss is Helena's younger sister, a victim of Neo-Umbrella. This whole sequence was pretty cool too.
Can you fly Leon?
Leon takes the controls of a 747 and it's quite good fun. Zombies on a plane...LOL
Ada:
She is back. And hotter than ever. Ada is awesome in RE6. You actually get to fight along side her in story mode. Very cool. I have always liked Ada Wong. Once you complete all 3 main campaigns, you can select her. But only in single story mode. Ah well.
Prelude:
This is the tutorial. And it's replayable. It is actually in the main story and near the end. It was like DEJAVU. Pretty cool stuff.
Rocket Launcher:
Yes it's back. You get it at the very last part of Leon's story. I don't have the infinite for it yet. But on professional mode, Simmons is going to be VERY HARD to beat I think. Good to see the RL back. It's a Tradition.
New girl:
Oh, and Helena is a cool new addition to the RE story. I like her. Was skeptical at first. But not now.
Mercs:
I am getting slowly better at this. Got a 45 hit on my own this morning. I know for a fact there's at leas 6 Mercs stages. I don't know if Mercs Reunion is in there. Hope so, that's my fav in RE5.
Quick shot!
I love this new feature with Leon. He taps off 6 well aimed shots with a pistol I was using and they all take down an enemy. But QS uses your endurance meter.

Yes. I only had it set to easy for my first campaign mode walk through. I highly recommend getting used to the game before plunging into Vet or Pro. Some parts are quite challenging.
I also really really love the 5 in-game play options for network play. Very cool idea. This will help alot with co-op online when people have different goals in RE6.

Skill Points are acquired simply by playing the game. You earn them by killing enemies, opening chests. Stuff like that throughout both story modes and in mercenaries gameplay. The more you play, the more you earn. You just pick them up. I've found maybe a hundred so far. They vary in value from 50 points up to about 500 . Using them is easy. You have a menu whereby 8 medallions have three levels each that you can attribute enhanced skills, once you have bought them, into these medallions.
One skill medalion has three attributable options. One this is they are very expensive to purchase. I think it cost me 20 or 25 thousand to get level 2 in melee attack strength.
Something like this...
Firearm - level 1 (next level 2 - 35,000 sp)
Melle Attack - level 2 (next level 3 - 72,000 sp)
Reload - level 1 (next level 2 - 25,000 sp)
You can only use these once you have completed at least one story campaign. And powered up your players skill levels. Then you can make use of them ingame.
I also tried Hunter Mode. It's quite different, and fun too. You can really mess another person's game up. LMAO! |

4.5? Are you kidding? Almost sounds like whoever reviewed it from GameSpot has some unfair bias against the RE series because that number varies wildly from the other figures you listed. |

| Other sites like Destructoid gave it a 3.0 out of 10 and Edge gave it a 6/10 so theres that. I didn't like RE5 too much and this game seems somewhat boring from what I've seen but I'll see how it plays out this upcoming Friday. |

Yeah, the majority of people dislike the latest RE installments because they're more action oriented. Funnily, it still sells well enough for Capcom to keep making the games. I personally don't care that much, and enjoyed playing the RE6 demo so I'll eventually pick it up. |

4.5 from GameSpot? Haha awesome. Their complaints of too much QTE sequences and set piece/fake gameplay seems valid tbh.
I just watched the Gametrailers review and they described it as if it was a pretty average game, but then they call it a top class action game or something ;-; I agree with their comment about how the game is trying to add a lot of modern, traditional third person shooter elements, but they are also constrained with a lot of RE4/RE5 elements, which just makes it messy. I played the demo yesterday, I guess it was decentish. Chris's demo was especially shitty though. I think I'll definitely get the game when its cheaper or when it has a GOTY edition type thing. |

| I checked the reviews for this game recently. Despite them being harsh I'd be lying if I said I didn't agree with the points they made. After playing the demo I have mixed feelings for it. Leon's campaign was OK I guess while Chris was just abyssmal for me. It definitely does feel more Call Of Duty inspired like Capcom said it would. I guess it just isn't what I was hoping for. I'll probably get around doing Jake soon to see if my opinion will change. But so far its just giving me an "eh" feeling. |

Debating whether or not to get this now on PS3 or wait till I get my laptop and get it on steam.
I don't have anyone on Steam, atm. |

| So far I'm only two chapters into Leon’s story and I have to say that I'm enjoying it thoroughly. The thing that's starting to bug me though (it's also been emphasised in reviews) are all of the quick time events. Why do I need to press X a thousand times? It's getting a bit tedious, but so far it's been fun. I've heard that Chris' campaign is average, so I'll save judgement after I've hit 100% completion. |

Leon's part was my favorite in the demo. It just had that authentic RE feel. |

| I've read a few reviews and a guy I know has it and says it's awful, stuff like zombies jumping through windows constantly, zombies eating a corpse that if you shoot does no damage, but when you get close to them and "activate" them, then you can kill them. I'll be giving it a miss or wait til it's really cheap I think/ |

You can't get mad every time a game diverges from reality. They design it this way so everyone isn't picking off every zombie from 200 ft away, so it's a challenge. Also noticed this when you run into zombies that are supposed to appear in a cutscenes.
So yeah, if you were designing a bunch of levels, you'd be forced to change things in order to keep it a challenge. If your designing a game and you realise the game is too easy, people are shooting zombies from a distance and not even getting in close quarters fights. You have 3 choices:
A) Ignore it and let people complain the game is too easy.
B) Fix it, make zombies immune until triggered.
C) change the whole level so there are no long areas. |

| This game is in need of patching. I have found some strange stuff in Jakes campaign. I won't say unless anyone else finds it. It';s funny. And MERCS needs patching as well. I am surprised noone has noticed it yet. Enjoying the 4 bonus levels too. |

agreed, i think having this come out a month early was a mistake... this game needed a bit more time in the oven...
