Oh yes and it was the most emotionally difficult thing I'd ever experienced at that point. Her name is Cassie, and we're still great friends. She's married now to a pretty good guy (I think he's kind of a douche, but whatever...she's happy) and we still talk fairly often.
But at one point I was sure...like beyond sure...that she was my soul mate. I loved her so deeply that it hurt, being away from her was hard, and watching her make decisions that didn't include me was also very hard.
What's silly is that now, the guy she was dating back then (and I hated at the time) is now one of my best friends also, and I'm glad that her and I didn't end up together. She's still way cool, but where we went in life is very different, and I'm afraid that we just weren't meant for each other in that way. Because of that, I'm actually glad we didn't end up together, because it would have hindered us both.
As a piece of advice...you need to find out right away how she feels about the two of you, and if she doesn't feel the same way, back off and give yourself some room. It will only hurt to love your best friend if she doesn't love you the same way. Some distance can help cool those feelings and put things in perspective.
Good luck to you, and whatever happens, I hope it works out in a way that's best for both of you.
Edit @ Satine....the other day here it rained, then snowed and rained at the same time, then just snowed. All same day. Thing is, here in Colorado, its unusual to have rain this late in the year, but we've almost gotten more this fall than we did all summer! |
