Hot on the heels of being voted Game of the Show at this year’s EB Expo comes the unveiling of not one but three new characters set to join the roster of Injustice: Gods Among Us. After a number of teases by NetherRealm Studios’ Ed Boon on his Twitter profile, Green Arrow, The Joker and Green Lantern have all been confirmed.
Today Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment confirmed that famed superhero Green Arrow will be featured as a playable character in the upcoming Injustice: Gods Among Us videogame. The title is scheduled for release April 2013 for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and the Wii U™ system from Nintendo.
Visitors to this year’s New York Comic Con taking place at the Javits Center in New York City October 11-14 will be able to get their hands on with the game and play the Green Arrow by visiting the DC Entertainment booth (#1238) at the show. Alongside the announcement comes three new screenshots, featuring Green Arrow, Solomon Grundy, Wonder Woman, The Flash and Nightwing in action.
In addition to the reveal trailer and three screenshots, we have also received a render of Green Arrow.
Finally, we also have the first images of the game’s box art for all three of its intended target consoles, including PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii U.

So it turns out they took the easiest route of dealing with the whole "What Do We Do with Joker" issue which is giving any1 who complains about there being too many batman characters already the finger and shoving him in there any way. Not too long ago I made a post listing various other ways NRS could have gone about this, and truthfully I'm as surprised about him being part of the launch date roster as I was then at only the idea of this decision being made and favored over one that potentially might have brought more diversity to this game's cast.
Now Joker is so fucking popular that his abscence from a DC game that's worked its way well into Batman territory would be immediately noticed and questioned by everyone familiar with the character from Diehard comic book fans all the way down to your every day average joe who's only seen the Dark Knight or played a bit of arkham asylum maybe. There's no sensible reason I can think of that NRS would have to not put him in this in some form. With that said I think they could have gotten away with making him DLC later on while using Harley to hold fans over in the mean time. Doing this would make revealing Harley before Joker (or having her in the primary roster in the first place for that matter) make sense I think. While really I don't see a reason for harley to be in this game while joker is at the same time, (why not choose a Batman villian with a more unique set of abilities for example Scarecrow, Poison Ivy, etc... or a character off a different series altogether?) since she Is there's no use complaining about it I guess. I really feel like one of the main reasons they put her in right away was because she was cancelled dlc for MK vs DC though. And this would have made the Joker being DLC this time around come off as a cute sort of trade off, like they're letting Harley have the spotlight in this game since Joker got it in the last one. Then they make Joker be DLC a short while afterwards and satisfy everybody.
Even with marketing it feels like a better idea. Freddy Krueger sold more than any of the other MK9 dlc IIRC and it doesnt take anything more than common sense to chalk that up to him being a widely recognised character that appeals to the same audience M K does. With Joker and this game it would be the same case except you eliminate whatever % of fans who decided not to buy Freddy just cause they dont like guest characters. Show me any comic book fan that doesnt like; or at least hasn't Heard of the Joker though... if nothing else I don't see why some other likely more obscure superhero or villian would sell more than he would.
This post turned out to be a lot longer than I at first thought it would, guess I must be really bored or something. =D= despite all that my feelings on Joker's reveal are truthfully very neutral. Like I do think the other way would have been better and all, but I'm not upset over it happening like this instead or anything. Of all these new reveals I find Green Arrow probably the most interesting. And I kinda want to see what they do with Lantern too. Wasn't crazy about the way he played in vDCU maybe he'll be better this time though.

I hate the box art too, Shiro. As much as I have always liked the Teen Titans, it's so weird seeing a lesser known character like Cyborg getting featured on the cover so prominently. Green Arrow looks weird just hanging out there at the bottom. And where are Harley and Catwoman?! It looks shoddy and like it was thrown together in about two minutes. No disrespect intended but this is horrible. Good thing is the box art has nothing to do with the overall quality of the game so I really don't care. |

I don't know about that. I happen to like his new look and his overall move set. Quite the skilled archer he will be in this game.
The box art is pretty bad. Generic to say the least.
I honestly don't mind Cyborg's presence in this roster, but I can't help to suspect a certain cop out on NetherRealm Studios part just to add more minority super heroes to the roster and if that was the case then they could have just replaced Hal Jordan with John Stewart, but whatever. I would have preferred Raven though.
Joker was to be expected and everyone knows it as well as I do. Either way if he's in or out, people will always get pissed and throw a fit. |

I was really hoping for Swamp Thing to be announced.
I still think this is cool. Batman with the kryptonite is killer.
The only way I'll enjoy The Joker being in the game is if his alternate costume is the "I Killed Jason Todd And All I Got Was This Lousy T-Shirt" costume. |

Agree with most of this. I almost want to say NRS could be prioritising cyborg because he's kind of a re-hash of character detail that's worked already in MK games. (robots, black guy with metal arms, Kano with the red eye) I wont be shocked if it turns out he plays like Jax with a hint of sektor and some other characters maybe too. Of course its not a serious problem that will turn me away from either the game or the character or anything, believe it or not I used to be a huge fan of the Teen Titans cartoon show when I was younger so I'm totally cool with Cyborg getting tobe in this. I hope they got the same voice actor who played him in the show, would be a sort of fun bit of nostalgia for me ;-; |

If I've learned anything in boxart advertising, it looks like those eight characters might play the largest roles in the story. Or at least the Joker since he's not only featured in the center, but is the largest of the characters.If the boxart was just Supes and Bman duking it out then it's would've been better.
I'm loving most of the character designs so far. Especially Batman and Flash. |
