Daegon Edit this entry
Click for larger image The main villain of Mortal Kombat Armageddon, Daegon is the evil brother of Taven, and the second son of the Edenian god Argus and the prophet Delia. Contrary to his appearance, he is actually the younger brother of Taven. When Delia foretold the future of the realms as armageddon, Argus had his sons put into incubation guarded by two dragons. They would be awakened one day to fight Blaze and save the realms from armageddon. Daegon awoke prematurely due to an error by his guardian dragon Caro, who lost mental contact with Blaze and mistakenly believed that to be the signal to release Daegon. Daegon became unbalanced by the early awakening, and confronted his parents about the true nature of the quest. Once he discovered what he needed, he killed them and formed the Red Dragon clan. In later years, he used the DNA of Caro (whom he had imprisoned) to create human-dragon hybrids, and used the dragon's ability to create portals to transport his clan anywhere they needed to go. The quest required that both brothers wield the weapon that was given to them by their father and the gift of armour from their mother. When Daegon made it to the temple where the swords were, he took them both.

Daegon enlisted the help of Shinnok who lied, telling him that his parents were aiding his brother, which invoked him to kill them. When Taven was awakened, Daegon used his Red Dragon troops in an attempt to get rid of his brother. Taven chased Daegon into the Netherrealm, but left without finding him. Taven and Daegon eventually reached Edenia, where they fought for the right to contest Blaze. Daegon was soon thereafter defeated by his brother.

In Daegon's ending, however, he defeated Blaze by cheating, killing him while Taven was fighting him. His parents were revealed to be alive feigning death as to draw out the true nature of their sons. Taven being the noble one, would take Argus' place as Defender of Edenia while Daegon would be punished severely for the suffering he caused.

Dairou Edit this entry
Click for larger image Making his debut in Mortal Kombat Deception, this Seidan guard-turned-mercenary is neutral and fights alone. Dairou usually gets the job done as quickly as possible, but there might be some honour left in his cynical heart.

He was once a highly respected Seidan guardsman, much like Hotaru, but was imprisoned when he attacked and killed the man who he was led to believe murdered his family. In Mortal Kombat Deception's Konquest mode, Dairou is hired to free Shujinko from prison. In the present, he has been hired by an unknown person to kill Hotaru and steal the constitution of Seido. Dairou fails to kill Hotaru given his appearance in Armageddon.

In Dairou's Mortal Kombat Armageddon ending, he defeated Blaze and gained a glowing suit of armour. Shao Kahn became enraged and attacked, but Dairou defeated him. He became the new ruler of Outworld. Under his rule, Outworld became beautiful and majestic like it was before. Convinced of Dairou's peacefulness, Earthrealm and Edenia formed an alliance with Outworld that would ensure peace in all the realms.

Damashi Edit this entry
Click for larger image Damashi, meaning 'deception' in Japanese, was the avatar Onaga used during Mortal Kombat Deception's Konquest mode. By falsely claiming that he was an emissary of the Elder Gods, he fooled Shujinko into a lifelong journey to collect all six Kamidogu.

Dark Kahn Edit this entry
Click for larger image Dark Kahn is the final boss players must defeat in order to complete Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe. After Shao Kahn's invasion of Earthrealm was thwarted and he was severely weakened by Raiden's Forces of Light, he was knocked into a portal amid screams of rage. At the same time, Superman was putting an end to Darkseid's invasion of Metropolis by blasting him into a boom tube. As both tyrants squirmed in pain, their beings merged to form Dark Kahn, a ruthless killer with no means but to cause chaos.

While these events were taking place, the Mortal Kombat and DC universes began to merge, bringing kombatants from both worlds together. As their abilities fluctuated due to the violent rage emitting from Dark Kahn, they were blinded by a fury that saw them fighting against both their new adversaries and their allies. The fighting that ensued did nothing but strengthen Dark Kahn.

Dark Kahn borrows his moveset from both Shao Kahn and Darkseid, and has a few of his own unique moves thrown in for good measure. He also resides on Apokolips, a dark and fiery planet seething with evil.

Dark Prison Edit this entry
Click for larger image The Dark Prison is located deep below Shang Tsung's Palace Grounds. The prisoners were not criminals, but merely the next victims. The lucky ones had a quick death in the spiked human compactor for the amusement of the guards. Others pointlessly struggled for their lives out in the Courtyard, serving as fodder for the skilled fighters during Mortal Kombat tournaments. The unlucky ones still died, but if Shang Tsung claimed the energy of their souls, they served him for eternity.

Darkseid Edit this entry
Click for larger image Darkseid is a comic book villain created by Jack Kirby, who appears in publications by DC Comics. He first appeared in Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen #134 in November of 1970. He is also a sub-boss character in Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe alongside Shao Kahn.

A ruthless despot, Darkseid rules over the perpetually burning planet known as Apokolips, and aims to rule over all life in the universe. He is almost immortal, with superhuman strength and stamina similar to that of Superman. His most feared attack is his Omega Beam, in which he can project a highly powerful beam of light from his eyes that is capable of transmuting or erasing most objects and organisms from existence as well as reform or resurrect them. A severely weakened Darkseid would later be blasted into a boom tube by Superman, and merge with Shao Kahn's being to form Dark Kahn.

In Darkseid's Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe ending, he became trapped in the Netherrealm and was left highly vulnerable. It was at this time that Shang Tsung attempted to steal his soul in the hope of attaining great power. Darkseid reversed the soul drain however, reducing Shang Tsung to a withered old man. Empowered by Shang Tsung's magic he broke free of his bonds, and watched as the once mighty sorcerer pledged allegiance to him in the hope of saving his life.

Darrius Edit this entry
Click for larger image Darrius made his debut appearance in Mortal Kombat Deception. He is an ambitious, calculating and unscrupulous character whose intricate schemes further his own ambitions. To his followers he is a revolutionary and visionary; to his foes he is a terrorist.

A former Seidan Guardsman who became disillusioned with the oppressive nature of Seido (the Realm of Order), Darrius leads a resistance movement which seeks to overthrow Orderrealm's senate. He takes advantage of the strict laws of Orderrealm to manipulate individuals into joining his movement. One tactic is to have a guardsman's family murdered, who will then retaliate and be expelled from the guard, thus ripe for induction into the swelling ranks. Others joined him of their own volition, such as the cleric of Chaos, Havik.

During the events of Mortal Kombat Deception, he hired fellow former guardsman Dairou to steal the Seidan government's most prized possession, the Declaration of Order (a scroll depicting its laws). It is also presumed that Darrius hired Dairou to kill Hotaru.

Though not explicitly stated, the similarities between Dairou's background and Darrius' method of recruitment seems to imply that he was the one to order the killing of Dairou's family.

In Darrius' Mortal Kombat Armageddon ending, he defeated Blaze, causing the pyramid to shrink and turn into a ring. Darrius took the ring, and with it, defeated Hotaru and created a new world order for Seido. Because the ring was meant for Taven and Daegon, however, Argus sent them to retrieve it and work together to get what Darrius had stolen.

Dead Pool Edit this entry
Click for larger image The Dead Pool is a place for punishment and sacrifice. Captives would be bound with chains, then lowered into the acid below. Shang Tsung favoured this method of punishment and built the acid bath.

Deadly Alliance Edit this entry
Click for larger image The Deadly Alliance was a temporary partnership between two powerful sorcerers: Shang Tsung, advisor to emperor Shao Kahn and host of the last Mortal Kombat tournament in Earthrealm, and Quan Chi, a free-roaming sorcerer and one-time ally of the fallen Elder God Shinnok. Their eventual goal was to conquer Earthrealm by using the Dragon King's undefeatable army.

At the end of the events of Mortal Kombat 4, Quan Chi was transported to the Netherrealm, along with his ally turned nemesis, Scorpion. In the Netherrealm, Scorpion relentlessly tormented the necromancer whenever he could. Quan Chi eventually met the two Oni, Moloch and Drahmin, and bargained a deal with them: in return for their protection, he would free them from the Netherrealm.

Shortly thereafter Quan Chi found the ruins of an ancient portal, and while examining the artefacts Scorpion attacked. The two Oni sprang into action; Quan Chi used this time to finish his examination and open the portal to escape the realm alone. He was transported to Outworld and found himself in the Lost Tomb of the mummified undefeatable army of the Dragon King. He surmised that with such an army at his disposal, he could conquer the realms and defeat the Elder Gods, becoming ruler of all creation.

Because the army was mummified, Quan Chi needed someone who could reanimate their bodies. That person ended up being the shapeshifter Shang Tsung, who also lived in Outworld. Quan Chi told him about his discovery and his plot, and they came to an agreement. First, they needed to remove the three most important obstacles that stood in their way.

Their first threat was Liu Kang, Earthrealm's champion of Mortal Kombat. Shang Tsung disguised himself as Kung Lao, and ambushed him. Thanks to Quan Chi's intervention in that battle, the sorcerers were able to win, and Shang Tsung took Liu Kang's soul. At the same time, Noob Saibot attacked and mortally wounded prince Goro at the command of Quan Chi during an important battle between the armies of Edenia and Outworld. Due to Goro's demise, the forces of Edenia were forced to retreat. The two sorcerers then travelled back to Outworld, where Shang Tsung presented Quan Chi to Shao Kahn. After a token display of loyalty, the two attacked, slaying the emperor. When the emperor lay dead on the floor, Kano stepped out of the shadows and offered his loyalty to the sorcerers.

With their enemies out of the way, Quan Chi used his amulet to open the Soulnado, a portal to the Heavens through which Shang Tsung summoned the souls of countless warriors to animate the Army of the Dragon King. They planned to invade Earthrealm with the army and their ally Mavado, the leader of the Red Dragon, who offered his loyalty in exchange for safety of his clan. Mavado had discovered that they had employed Kano, one of the last Black Dragon members, and expressed his desire to kill him. The Alliance would give him a fight to the death with Kano, if Mavado found and eliminated Kenshi. He succeeded, and then killed Kano in kombat.

Raiden's Earthrealm champions then travelled to Outworld to stop the Deadly Alliance from bringing all of their plans to fruition. However, their attack against both sorcerers failed. Jax, Johnny Cage, Kung Lao, Sonya Blade and the Edenian princess Kitana were all killed. Kenshi was badly wounded and Sub-Zero was betrayed by his own disciple, Frost. Frost tried to steal Sub-Zero's dragon medallion, but was consumed by her own freezing ability. With all heroes from Earthrealm caught up, wounded or dead, Raiden took on the Deadly Alliance himself. Ultimately, he too was defeated.

Both sorcerers had little time to relish in their victory and quickly turned on each other. After a brief and vicious fight, Quan Chi stood victorious. His attention now turned to a tall, massive intruder who had returned from beyond death. It became obvious soon that Quan Chi could not stop Onaga. Even when Shang Tsung and Raiden regained consciousness and joined the fight against their common foe, the Dragon King was unstoppable. In a last ditch effort, Raiden released his godly essence in a terrible explosion which destroyed the palace, the Soulnado, the Deadly Alliance and Onaga's army, but to no avail. Onaga arose from the rubble holding Shinnok's amulet.

Deathstroke Edit this entry
Click for larger image Deathstroke is a comic book villain co-created by Marv Wolfman and George Pérez, who appears in publications by DC Comics. He first appeared in The New Teen Titans (Vol. 1) #2 in 1980.

Given enhanced abilities as part of a military experiment, Slade Wilson kept his involvement with the military hidden from his family. This soon unravelled, however, when a criminal named The Jackal kidnapped his younger son Joseph and held him hostage, demanding he divulge the name of a client who had hired him as an assassin. He refused to do so and tried to take him back by force, but his son's throat was slashed, destroying his vocal cords and rendering him mute.

After taking Joseph to the hospital, his wife became enraged at his careless endangerment of their son and tried to kill him with a pistol, but only managed to destroy his right eye. Afterward, his confidence in his physical abilities was such that he made no secret of his impaired vision, marked by his mask which has a black featureless half covering his lost eye. Adept at both sword and gunplay, his superhuman physical abilities are matched only by his facility for manipulating both allies and enemies alike. Renaming himself Deathstroke, he also has the capacity to use up to 90% of his brain, making him a tactical genius, adept at turning opponents' own abilities against them.

In Deathstroke's Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe ending, he emerged from the conflict both wiser and more cautious. To maintain superiority, he created a band of powerful assassins outfitted in his image called the DeathStrike Clan, with which he would seek to protect himself from future harm.

Deathtrap Edit this entry
Click for larger image A new feature added to arenas in Mortal Kombat Deception and included in those of Armageddon. Caught out in the wrong place at the wrong time, players had the ability to instantly force their opponent into a trap, effectively winning the round as their opponent is slaughtered.

Delia Edit this entry
Click for larger image Delia is the mother of Taven and Daegon who appears in Mortal Kombat Armageddon. She is referred to as a Lady of Fire, which is presumably where her sons' abilities stem from. Delia is a powerful Edenian sorceress who can see into the future. Her visions of an impending armageddon prompted for her husband, Argus, to create a plan in which their sons would be kept in incubation for many years until the time for their quest to begin. Delia created the firespawn Blaze to sound the call to awaken the two warriors as well as to be defeated in battle in order to decide the fate of the rest of the fighters. She also placed her image into obelisks created by her husband in order to train her sons while they continued on their journey. Argus and Delia were supposedly killed by Daegon shortly after their son's premature revival. However, Daegon's own ending reveals both of them may still be alive.

Divizio, Richard Edit this entry
Click for larger image Born September 6, 1968 in Chicago, Illinois, Richard Divizio is an American actor best known for his portrayal of some characters in the earlier Mortal Kombat games. Divizio played Kano in the original Mortal Kombat, appeared as Baraka in Mortal Kombat 2, and reprised his role of Kano for Mortal Kombat 3 in which he also played the masked swordsman Kabal. He later suited up as Quan Chi in Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero, and provided his motion capture talent for Mortal Kombat 4.

Divizio and his fellow Mortal Kombat actors became minor celebrities during the height of franchise's success with Mortal Kombat 2. They appeared in costume on the cover of the January 1994 issue of Video Games, which featured the group in an extensive profile three months later. Divizio made several appearances at trade shows dressed as Scorpion, despite not having played him in any of the games; this was because Daniel Pesina, who had played Scorpion during filming for Mortal Kombat 2, regularly suited up as Johnny Cage. Richard later returned to the Mortal Kombat series in 2002 to lend his motion capture skills for Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance.

Dragon Medallion Edit this entry
Click for larger image A powerful medallion worn by Sub-Zero during his battle against the Deadly Alliance of Quan Chi and Shang Tsung. Frost attempted to steal the Dragon Medallion from Sub-Zero in her ending to enhance her own powers, but was overcome by her own freezing ability due to her lack of strength and discipline.

Dragon Mountain Edit this entry
Click for larger image Dragon Mountain is located in Outworld. This mountain is nearly hollow on the inside with a maze of caverns and tunnels running throughout. A temple was constructed here for worship of the dragon.

Dragonfly Edit this entry
Click for larger image The Dragonfly is the fastest form of transportation across the vast expanses of Outworld, aside from sorcery. There are many of these flying transports, each with its own set of destinations.

Drahmin Edit this entry
Click for larger image Drahmin made his debut in Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance as one of two Oni, demons of the Netherrealm. He wields an iron club, which is mounted on his right arm. The mask he wears is an artefact called the Face of Kun-Lo. Wearing it allows him to control his rage and fight with his disciplined Netherrealm style; removing it causes him to lose his focus and attack with murderous insanity.

Drahmin was not always a demon. Centuries ago, he was a cruel human warlord in Outworld. For his crimes, he was exiled to the Netherrealm where his body and soul were to be tortured for all eternity. As the years dragged on, he fell further and further into insanity until his humanity was lost all together. He eventually accepted his fate and submitted to the power of the Netherrealm. He re-emerged from the Netherrealm depths as Drahmin: the Oni Tormentor.

The two Oni known as Moloch and Drahmin are reluctant allies. They roamed the fifth plane of the Netherrealm in search of damned souls to torment. After many centuries the two demons came upon a battling Scorpion and Quan Chi. Quan Chi, sorely pressed by Scorpion, pleaded for aid from the Oni; Drahmin and Moloch intervened and drove off Scorpion. Demanding payment for their services, Quan Chi agreed to liberate them from Netherrealm. The Oni agreed, and they led the sorcerer to an ancient structure rumoured to be a gateway to other realms.

Quan Chi studied the ruins and discovered that it was a dormant portal that could be used with Shinnok's amulet. Suddenly, Scorpion attacked again and Quan Chi took advantage of the distraction to activate the portal and escape from the Netherrealm. The portal had not yet closed before all four managed to pass through. The two Oni found themselves in Outworld, with Scorpion and Quan Chi nowhere to be seen, and were enraged by the sorcerer's betrayal.

Now free, Drahmin and Moloch began searching for Quan Chi. They scoured the wastelands and killed all they encountered. Before their meeting with Shang Tsung, they encountered the cyborg Cyrax and Li Mei, both of whom escaped the Oni's clutches. Shang Tsung found the pair after he and Quan Chi had formed the Deadly Alliance, and employed them as a safeguard measure against any treachery from his partner. He kept the Oni hidden beneath his palace and paid them with mortals to feed upon and the promise of revenge against Quan Chi.

While waiting for their opportunity, the Oni once again encountered Scorpion. This time, the demons overcame the ninja spectre. Knowing that they themselves were unable to destroy him, they instead disposed of him by throwing him into the soulnado.

In Mortal Kombat Armageddon's Konquest Mode, Drahmin is once again in the Netherrealm. While it is unknown how he was sent back there, it is revealed that he spent the next few years wandering aimlessly throughout the Netherrealm Cliffs feasting on any demons he encountered.

In Drahmin's Mortal Kombat Armageddon ending, the power of the gods was infused into Drahmin's mask, which then caused him to grow three times his normal size. He then turned on Moloch, which was just the beginning of his bloodlust.

Drum Arena Edit this entry
Click for larger image The cliff people of Makeba hold their trials here. The giant drummers beat their drums as the fighters beat each other up. It is said that in the event of a tie, Konga, the biggest drummer, will challenge both of the warriors.

Durac Edit this entry
Durac, Goro's older brother, made an appearance in the animated film Mortal Kombat: The Journey Begins. The two fought in the bottomless pit of Shokan for a rare jewelled egg with which they would pay tribute to their father, King Gorbak. The two fought hard and well, the fight ending with Goro hanging off a cliff. Durac helped his brother up, only to be double crossed and knocked off the cliff himself. Goro then took the egg to pay tribute to his father and became the new Prince of the Shokan. There is no reference to Durac in the video games nor comics. Durac was the first son of King Gorbak and Queen Maya.
