Hara-Kiri Edit this entry
Click for larger image A finishing move first introduced in Mortal Kombat Deception. After the announcer utters the words 'Finish Him/Her', the losing player has the ability to rob their opponent of the chance to perform a finishing move. Players would first need to enter a correct button combination, before the losing kombatant would end their own life as an honourable alternative to disgrace or execution.

Havik Edit this entry
Click for larger image Hailing from Chaosrealm, Havik is a clergyman of Chaos. Neither good nor evil, his ambitions are to spread discord, and he will ally himself with those who can seek to further his ends, regardless of their goals. He is known to be a frequent troublemaker in Seido (the realm of Order), and is heralded as a hero by the populace of Chaosrealm where he has formed an alliance with the revolutionary Darrius. He opposes the Dragon King, Onaga, who rules by order.

Seeing Onaga's return and plans to unite the Kamidogu as a possible threat to the 'never ending turmoil of life', Havik decided to put a halt to the schemes of the Dragon King. Along the way, he encountered a severely wounded Kabal, who had just been defeated by the Red Dragon member Mavado. Healing Kabal's injuries, Havik manages to convince Kabal to restore the former glory that the Black Dragon clan once possessed in the name of anarchy. He did this in order to promote chaos in Earthrealm.

Havik, along with Kabal and his new Black Dragon recruits, Kira and Kobra, ventured into Outworld. There, Havik revealed his plans: lure the heroes into a battle with Onaga, and once the Dragon King had been defeated, take down or distract the victors of the battle long enough so that Havik could get close enough to the body and consume Onaga's heart (which granted Onaga the ability to resurrect the dead). By consuming the heart, Havik would achieve his goal and gain this power.

In Mortal Kombat Armageddon's Konquest mode, Havik is seen in the Netherrealm along with Sheeva, Kintaro, and a legion of demons all apparently working in an attempt to overthrow Shinnok's rule at his spire. However, Shinnok later revealed that they were just apparitions created as a test for Taven, thus making it clear that it wasn't the real Havik.

In Havik's Armageddon ending, he defeated Blaze and became the very essence of Chaos. He ripped and reshaped the realms into twisted and chaotic places, thus fulfilling his dream of a chaotic universe.

Hell Edit this entry
Click for larger image An evil arena first introduced in Mortal Kombat Armageddon. Resembling that of Scorpion's Lair, this arena is situated in the Netherrealm. Surrounded by boiling lava and jagged structures, kombatants took place in ferocious battles here on multiple levels.

Hell's Foundry Edit this entry
Click for larger image Onaga's army is busy at work forging weapons and armour for tomorrow's battles. Hundreds of factories work without rest. In Hell's Foundry, giant steel smashers pound out newly cast slabs of metal. They will be used to make the instruments of war needed to defend the Dragon King's reign as Ruler of Outworld.

Hinoka Edit this entry
Click for larger image Hinoka was a boss in Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero. He was one of four guardian gods assigned to guard Shinnok's amulet in the temples of elements, and acted as the god of fire in the Mortal Kombat universe. He had the ability to teleport, fire jets of flame, as well as having a burning chokehold. He was the final elemental god defeated by the elder Sub-Zero, allowing the ninja access to the amulet.

In the official Mortal Kombat 4 comic, Sub-Zero attempts to make peace with the temple guardians, but discovers that they are gone. This could indicate that the Fire God was killed by Shinnok during his invasion.

Fans have speculated in the past that the Fire God's name was Hinoka, but there is no information in Mythologies that states this, and no official confirmation from the Mortal Kombat development team. It is therefore likely that 'Hinoka' is a fan-created name.

Hornbuckle Edit this entry
Click for larger image Hornbuckle is the name fans gave to the character resembling Liu Kang in the background of the Pit II stage in Mortal Kombat 2. The name Hornbuckle comes from the hints that Jade and Smoke, two secret characters in the game, would randomly give before matches.

One of Jade's hints was 'Hornbuckle Who?'. This was a reference to someone named Leanne Hornbuckle who appeared in the credits for Mortal Kombat 2, but fans took this as the name of the character in the background. The character in the background of the Pit II stage was later added to Blaze's storyline, presumed to be one of the 'holy men' who captured and forced him to guard the Dragon King's egg. Hornbuckle appears in Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks in Smoke's fifth mission. The Pit II area shows Hornbuckle and Blaze sparring in the background, although it uses the same animation as the Shaolin monk fighting a Tarkatan in the Wu Shi Academy.

Hotaru Edit this entry
Click for larger image The name Hotaru is Japanese for firefly, which his outfit reflects, having the appearance of an insect's exoskeleton. His special attacks evoke a firefly's glow and power of flight. Hotaru is a hero from the realm of Orderrealm, and devotes himself to preserving law and order at any cost, so much so that he could be described as a zealot.

At one point, Hotaru had ventured into Outworld to confront Shao Kahn's Tarkatan armies, who were laying siege to the city of Lei Chen. Years later however, those same forces would be under the command of Onaga. Believing that this newly resurrected ruler would bring order to the universe, Hotaru aided Onaga's hordes in their attacks and pursues those who would stand against them, such as Sub-Zero. At the time of Mortal Kombat Deception, Hotaru had set out to bring the Lin Kuei Grandmaster to justice before Onaga.

He is, however, unaware that a bounty has been placed on his own head. In the past, Hotaru had served as a guardsman for Dairou while he was incarcerated; the latter now is under contract to murder him.

In Hotaru's Mortal Kombat Armageddon ending, he defeated Blaze and became the very essence of Order. He then converted the realms into an orderly existence, making people bow to him or be transformed. He transformed Havik into his second-in-command.

House of Pekara Edit this entry
Click for larger image The House of Pekara was a place of worship built upon a tomb of ancient warrior kings. It was in the labyrinth below this structure that Shang Tsung fooled Kenshi into releasing the souls of the kings.

Hsu Hao Edit this entry
Click for larger image Hsu Hao is a cruelly deceptive Chinese grappler, who posed as a member of China's intelligence services to infiltrate the U.S. Special Forces. His sole purpose was to demolish them after he had aided them in destroying the Black Dragon clan, longtime rivals of Hsu Hao's Red Dragon clan. Hsu Hao has no heart; instead, he has a pulsating heart implant that also enhances his strength. He follows orders from his superior Mavado with unquestioning obedience.

For the events in Earthrealm leading up to Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance, Hsu Hao was of primordial importance. He destroyed the Outer World Investigation Agency's only means of inter-realm travel with a miniature nuclear weapon after the Black Dragon was seemingly eradicated with Kano lost forever, Jarek killed in Edenia, and Kabal killed by Mavado. His former superior at the Special Forces, Jax, had a score to settle with him. Cornered by Jax in Outworld, he was defeated and seemingly killed when his artificial heart was ripped out by the Outerworld Investigation Agency soldier.

Hsu Hao returns in Mortal Kombat Armageddon, however. His ending states that Hsu Hao was killed from Blaze's death explosion and descended into the Netherrealm, where he transformed into a cold, emotionless demon. He defeated Shinnok and his minions, and became the new ruler of the Netherrealm.
