Side by side with the relaunch of the site, I just found this news on the comicbook.com website

Comicbook.com wrote:

Variety reports that Simon McQuoid is in talks with New Line to direct Mortal Kombat; McQuoid is a commercial director who has worked on high-profile campaigns for PlayStation, Beats by Dre and Halo. No word yet on what the storyline is, or any other casting news.

Is anyone else excited about this? 'cause I am!

Indeed, It's really exciting. However, it makes me worry. A director of a movie like MK must be able to shoot fight scenes right. You can have the best choreographer in the world, the fight scene will be unwatchable, if the director and the camera person don't know how to shoot it. What's more, to be a success the movie needs to provide a totally fresh experience for the audience, just like the Matrix did, for example, when it came out. Or the recent Atomic Blonde movie starring Charlize Theron. We haven't seen anything what Simon McQuoid can do in terms of shooting action.

As for the story and the characters, I guess James Wan is in charge. I hope he knows what he is doing. Each of us is anxious for the portrayal of their favourite characters.
