News 2010 Viewing Article

1 December 2010
It was on this day five years ago that an idea became reality. The initial concept of Kamidogu began with its two founders Christopher Veljanovski and Brad Askew, but by the time the site was launched the latter had already abandoned the project. With the strong determination of wanting to provide the Mortal Kombat kommunity with the best of everything, Christopher pushed on with the project, launching the site with the Internet’s biggest Mortal Kombat: Deception strategy guide and the site’s forums. Over the next few years thousands of hours were spent building up the site, which today has amassed into one of the richest and in-depth Mortal Kombat resources available.

The journey to this point has not been easy, for there were a number of obstacles along the way. These included finding a way of supporting the site financially, and having to deal with a number of interruptions such as site hackings and the moving of servers. It has not all been bad though, for over the years we have been privileged to have had interviews with figures such as Steve Beran, Hector Sanchez, Richard Divizio, Ed Boon and more. The highlight came earlier this year when we travelled to Los Angeles to meet the NetherRealm Studios team, an experience that was both breathtaking and fulfilling. Only a few days ago Kamidogu rewrote the record books by providing the Mortal Kombat kommunity at large with its very first iOS app, allowing fans on the move to enjoy their favourite content conveniently from their iPod touch, iPhone or iPad, and we already have a number of ideas on how to make it even better in the future.

As with all of us, Kamidogu’s look has changed many times over the past five years. We are currently working on our ninth iteration of our site’s layout, and today are proud to share with you a sneak peak of what to expect in the next week or two when the layout goes live.

In addition to the new site layout, we are also planning a fantastic competition to celebrate our fifth birthday, so stay tuned for an official announcement in the next few days.

We would like to thank each and every person who has helped shape Kamidogu into what it is today. With the continued support of Mortal Kombat’s passionate kommunity we look forward to bringing you the best Mortal Kombat has to offer in 2011 and beyond.
