The moment you have all been waiting for has arrived: Mortal Kombat II’s official red-band trailer is here.
Proving that there is plenty of steam left in the 33-year-old franchise, Mortal Kombat returns to the silver screen this October with its second film following 2021’s reboot. The trailer has garnered so much attention that it has officially become the most viewed red-band trailer of all time, hitting 106.8 million views in only 24 hours.
Seemingly centred around Johnny Cage, the trailer sees the failed action star thrust into a violent world he doesn’t fully understand. While the film shares some aesthetical similarities with its predecessor, it’s clear that much more inspiration has been taken from the games this time around, with more majestic set pieces and detailed costumes.
We won’t spoil too much else of the spoiler’s contents here, but when you’re done feel free to check out episode 69 of our podcast, in which Toasty, Justin and Lew react to seeing it for the first time. Our next episode will feature a deep breakdown of the trailer, so keep your eyes peeled for that.
