Combo Breaker 2022 happened this weekend, and WHAT A TOURNAMENT!

The top 32 was peppered with some of the expected names. We saw Grr, Kombat, HoneyBee, Han Rashid, Rewind, VideoGamezYo, Scorpionprocs, and KMac. All of whom, with the exception of Scorpionprocs, have been top 8 finishers regularly since MKX.

Noticeably absent from MK11 at Combo Breaker this year was SonicFox, possibly the biggest name in NRS Esports. Fox has said that they will be returning to MK11 at this year’s EVO tournament (on their Twitter). For Combo Breaker however they were focusing on Skull Girls, for which they took SECOND overall (kongrats from the MK Kommunity).

By the top 8 we had Nicolas, PerfectShini, Scorpionprocs, Grr, Aztec, Han Rashid, VideoGamezYo, and Rewind. Some pretty krazy upsets from the top 32 to here, but even krazier was the top 8. The full breakdown is coming in a different article. Coming to a head with Scorpionprocs VS Nicolas. Both of whom hail from the same Esports team, T7G.

In the end Scorpionprocs fell to his teammate Nicolas, a relative newcomer in the NRS Esport kommunity, in a final game score of 3 to 2 AFTER resetting the bracket effectively TWICE.

A big KONGRATULATIONS to Nicolas from Chile representing team T7G!

Dustin has been a fan of Mortal Kombat since the very first “Toasty” Fatality he saw on an MK1 machine in ’92. That moment made him an instant lore-hound as well, devouring each new game and its story. Today he runs a YouTube channel, Generally Nerdy, is a tech director for Black Lion Endeavors Corporation, and is all around nerdy kind of guy with a love of metal music, fighting and FPS games, photography and food.
