As largely expected, Digital Eclipse and Atari have used Evo 2025 to jointly announce the inclusion of Mortal Kombat Trilogy in Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection.
Released in 1996, Mortal Kombat Trilogy quickly became a fan favourite, bringing together an enormous roster of kombatants and arenas. Although it was also released for Nintendo 64, it was the PlayStation and PC ports that really resonated with fans as they contained crisper graphics and additional characters. In fact, it is the PlayStation port specifically that will be included with this kollection.
While the digital version of Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection is expected in late September, physical copies will be released worldwide in December. A questionable choice, but one that we have to live with nonetheless.

In terms of editions, there will be three as outlined below:
- Standard: Base game for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. The Xbox Series X|S version will only be available via atari.com and limitedrungames.com. At this point in time, it looks like the Xbox X|S port is US-exclusive, yet another questionable choice. Furthermore, the Standard edition will be available from Atari’s website with exclusive slipcovers in Scorpion Gold, Reptile Green, Smoke Black and Sub-Zero Blue.
- Deluxe: Includes the Standard edition plus a steel book, mini marquees, magnet, poster, lenticular card, arcade flyers and arcade cabinet cards.
- Kollector’s: This edition includes the Standard edition along with a Goro controller holder, commemorative arcade token, hardcover art and lore book, and a pin set. All items are housed in a special, numbered kollector’s box. Unfortunately, again it looks like this particular edition is US-exclusive, meaning international fans miss out.
