With the theatrical release of Mortal Kombat II less than two weeks away, Christopher, Toasty and Kung Lew share their hopes, their fears and their final thoughts ahead of its premiere.

The second trailer for 2026’s Mortal Kombat II movie has dropped, and is sure to whet more than a few appetites. Once again, protagonist Johnny Cage (Karl Urban) is front and centre, seemingly thrust into a world he doesn’t quite understand. While numerous fan theories currently exist, many believe the film’s first half will focus on the film star while the latter half will focus more on the rise of Kitana and Earthrealm’s warriors against the evil emperor Shao Kahn. Guess we’ll have to wait and see. What do you think of this latest trailer? Be sure to keep an…
TOASTY! The man behind Mortal Kombat’s most iconic music tracks has announced his retirement from the team after more than three decades. Dan Forden served as one of the original four team members who created the original Mortal Kombat in 1992 alongside Ed Boon, John Tobias and John Vogel. Its unique digitised graphics and gruesome finishing moves aside, a huge part of Mortal Kombat’s appeal came from its catchy soundtrack and crispy sound effects. Game after game he continued to perfect his craft, and although others eventually joined the sound development team his influence remained front and centre. Wednesday was…

As largely expected, Digital Eclipse and Atari have used Evo 2025 to jointly announce the inclusion of Mortal Kombat Trilogy in Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection. Released in 1996, Mortal Kombat Trilogy quickly became a fan favourite, bringing together an enormous roster of kombatants and arenas. Although it was also released for Nintendo 64, it was the PlayStation and PC ports that really resonated with fans as they contained crisper graphics and additional characters. In fact, it is the PlayStation port specifically that will be included with this kollection. While the digital version of Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection is expected in…

One of the most exciting secrets to feature in a Mortal Kombat game for well over a decade, Floyd is the series’ first ninja to be dressed in pink. An obvious nod to English rock band Pink Floyd, he joins the multitude of coloured ninjas made popular by the franchise’s early palette swap days.
Joining us in this episode of the podcast is Johnny Tobias, son of legendary Mortal Kombat co-creator John Tobias. Born in 1997 during the slow decline of arcades around the globe, Johnny enjoyed gaming from an early age and fondly watched on as his father continued to excel at Studio Gigante, Zynga and now Warner Bros. San Diego.

NetherRealm Studios continues to ride the retro train as it prepares to add further classic content to Mortal Kombat 1’s premium in-game store. Beginning this Tuesday, players will have the ability to purchase Mortal Kombat II inspired skins for Kitana, Mileena and Tanya. While pricing is currently unknown, classic skins have proven incredibly popular amongst the fan base, with more no doubt in the pipeline. What are your thoughts on these skins, considering Tanya didn’t exist in 1993? Be sure to keep it locked to Kamidogu as we continue our coverage of all things Mortal Kombat.
One of the most recognisable of horror icons is set to join the Mortal Kombat 1 roster next week in the form of Ghostface from the Scream franchise. Initially thought to coincide with Halloween, Ghostface will be made available for early access starting November 19. Armed with his signature knife and tape recorder, Ghostface presents as a wild and unpredictable kombatant set to both appease horror fans while unsettling others. We won’t spoil the contents of the trailer, but the conclusion of Ghostface’s Fatal Blow is particularly stomach twisting. His second Fatality is also shown off, and it’s a good…
This day will not end well, as the Cleric of Chaos and Keeper of Time Havik sets out to spread anarchy and instability across the realms. Flanked by wildly colourful and unique backgrounds and costumes, the upcoming Khaos Reigns expansion for Mortal Kombat 1 will no doubt be a wild ride. Banding together to fend off the threat of pandemonium, fighters from both Earthrealm and Outworld must work swiftly and effectively as a team. Launching alongside the Khaos Reigns bundle will be three immediately playable kombatants, which include Noob Saibot and the newly re-imagined Sektor and Cyrax. Of course players…
With the release of the Khaos Reigns expansion for Mortal Kombat 1 only one week away, the identity of the kombatant who turns into a gorilla has finally been revealed. Lauded as one of the coolest transformations teased in the Khaos Reigns announcement trailer, many believed that Reptile was behind the finisher, having previously turned into a gorilla in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. While almost no one guessed Smoke, one eagle-eyed user on X noticed the scar on the gorilla’s eyelid bore a resemblance to that of Smoke, and the rest is history. Good catch! While some Animalities have been…
Go big or go home — an idiomatic phrase perfectly suited to both Cyrax’s Mortal Kombat 1 gameplay and snippets of the upcoming expansion to Story mode. Born into the Zaki, one of the Lin Kuei’s many sub-clans in Niger’s Aïr mountains, the now female Cyrax devotes her purpose to defending Earthrealm. Today’s trailer opens to her being actively pursued by Sektor in a forest, much akin to the Mortal Kombat 11 trailer in which Baraka was being chased by Mileena. It looks like the notion of automation is out the window, with both Cyrax and Sektor donning a retractable armoured…
With the release of the Khaos Reigns expansion for Mortal Kombat 1 a little over a month away, Ed Boon has today shared a short teaser of what to expect come Thursday. No longer male (Kameo aside), Cyrax can be seen squaring off against Sub-Zero who questions her allegiance to the Lin Kuei. Doing away with the cyber initiative notion of automation, Cyrax seems to maintain her human attributes while fighting in what can only be described as an Iron Man-like suit. Cyrax retains much of her signature moves, including explosive bombs, spinning blades and nets. It looks like her…
The future of Mortal Kombat 1 could be in shambles, if rumours started by a prominent leaker are to be believed. Known leaker _FateUnknown_ recently made a post on Reddit claiming that NetherRealm Studios have pulled the plug on both Kombat Pack 3 and a second story expansion for Mortal Kombat 1. The decision is said to have been made following lacklustre sales of Khaos Reigns, the game’s first expansion released back on September 24. Flanked by controversy, the Khaos Reigns expansion saw the introduction of an expanded story focusing heavily around antagonist Titan Havik. Fans as a whole remain…
