As largely expected, Digital Eclipse and Atari have used Evo 2025 to jointly announce the inclusion of Mortal Kombat Trilogy in Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection. Released in 1996, Mortal Kombat Trilogy quickly became a fan favourite, bringing together an enormous roster of kombatants and arenas. Rather than creating high-quality renders of the game’s arenas and kombatants or using modern techniques such as motion capture (a la the cancelled Mortal Kombat HD Arcade Kollection), Bitplex has modelled the game’s original sprites and textures onto 3D models.
Arcade1Up, the company responsible for bringing the classic arcade experience home, have today announced a brand new Mortal Kombat arcade machine at CES 2019. Three-quarters the size of a regular arcade machine, it includes the following titles: Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat II and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. The much-loved trilogy are set to make their return with authentic controls, crisp graphics and fully adjustable volume.
