TOASTY! The man behind Mortal Kombat’s most iconic music tracks has announced his retirement from the team after more than three decades. Dan Forden served as one of the original four team members who created the original Mortal Kombat in 1992 alongside Ed Boon, John Tobias and John Vogel. Its unique digitised graphics and gruesome finishing moves aside, a huge part of Mortal Kombat’s appeal came from its catchy soundtrack and crispy sound effects. Game after game he continued to perfect his craft, and although others eventually joined the sound development team his influence remained front and centre. Wednesday was…

As largely expected, Digital Eclipse and Atari have used Evo 2025 to jointly announce the inclusion of Mortal Kombat Trilogy in Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection. Have you ever wondered what Mortal Kombat II would look like as a 3D title? YouTuber Bitplex has paid homage to his favourite title in the series by taking this question and making it a reality. Rather than creating high-quality renders of the game’s arenas and kombatants or using modern techniques such as motion capture (a la the cancelled Mortal Kombat HD Arcade Kollection), Bitplex has modelled the game’s original sprites and textures onto 3D models.
Highly esteemed and longtime Mortal Kombat kommunity member tabmok99 recently posted a video to his YouTube channel detailing one of the greatest mysteries in the franchise: the elusive male ninja Chameleon. Hot on the heels of their surprise reveal back in November comes our first proper look at the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in their very own gameplay trailer. Their inclusion caps off an incredible three seasons of DLC for Injustice 2, bringing the total roster of playable characters to a whopping 41. NetherRealm Studios continues its strong line-up of Injustice 2 DLC with the addition of Enchantress as part of Fighter Pack 3. Her inclusion follows Atom who was introduced in late 2017. The all-too ordinary life of June Moone ended the day she was possessed by the Enchantress, a demonic sorceress with aspirations of world domination. Today, she fights for her very soul, struggling to harness the Enchantress’ magic for good. If she fails, the Enchantress will consume her — and our world won’t be far behind.
Hellboy will become the third and final character to be added to the roster in Injustice 2 as part of Fighter Pack 2 come November 14. His inclusion follows last month’s introduction of Mortal Kombat’s popular thunder god Raiden, as well as Black Manta back in September. Created by writer-artist Mike Mignola, Hellboy first made his appearance in August 1993 in San Diego Comic-Con Comics #2. He has since made numerous guest appearances in varying forms of media, and starred in two live-action feature films in 2004 and 2008 starring Ron Perlman.
