Toasty is joined by McCage and Kung Lew to breakdown the second trailer for Mortal Kombat II, which premieres worldwide on 8th May 2026.
The second trailer for 2026’s Mortal Kombat II movie has dropped, and is sure to whet more than a few appetites. Once again, protagonist Johnny Cage (Karl Urban) is front and centre, seemingly thrust into a world he doesn’t quite understand. While numerous fan theories currently exist, many believe the film’s first half will focus on the film star while the latter half will focus more on the rise of Kitana and Earthrealm’s warriors against the evil emperor Shao Kahn. Guess we’ll have to wait and see. What do you think of this latest trailer? Be sure to keep an…
TOASTY! The man behind Mortal Kombat’s most iconic music tracks has announced his retirement from the team after more than three decades. Dan Forden served as one of the original four team members who created the original Mortal Kombat in 1992 alongside Ed Boon, John Tobias and John Vogel. Its unique digitised graphics and gruesome finishing moves aside, a huge part of Mortal Kombat’s appeal came from its catchy soundtrack and crispy sound effects. Game after game he continued to perfect his craft, and although others eventually joined the sound development team his influence remained front and centre. Wednesday was…

As largely expected, Digital Eclipse and Atari have used Evo 2025 to jointly announce the inclusion of Mortal Kombat Trilogy in Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection. Released in 1996, Mortal Kombat Trilogy quickly became a fan favourite, bringing together an enormous roster of kombatants and arenas. Although it was also released for Nintendo 64, it was the PlayStation and PC ports that really resonated with fans as they contained crisper graphics and additional characters. In fact, it is the PlayStation port specifically that will be included with this kollection. While the digital version of Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection is expected in…

The Banished trailer brought joy to many fans. Now, it’s time to find out how our beloved characters have changed! Per tradition, the Mortal Kombat 1 official Twitter page shared the official biographies of the recently revealed characters, Havik, Ashrah, and Reptile. Check them out: Havik Of the three, Havik is the one whose backstory changed the most. Previously a Cleric of Chaos from Chaosrealm, he’s now a rebel from Seido. “Seido,” for those not so knowledgeable of the Mortal Kombat lore, is Orderrealm’s official name. Judging by the information we got here, it’s safe to assume that, in Liu…
Ed Boon has confirmed that Mortal Kombat 1 will be a re-imagining of the lore we have all known for years. One of the biggest questions surrounding the game is how, if at all, will the Kameo game mechanic factor into this new lore? There are some things that we can ascertain for sure. The Kameo fighter system is NetherRealm’s compromise on a few fronts. Those being tag team mechanics and as a way to include more characters for fan-service reasons without the need to fully program 16 MORE characters. None of this though ties directly into the story of…
NetherRealm Studios made fans wait quite a while for the anticipated EVO trailer. And the wait was totally worth it! This weekend, we had the Evolution Championship Series, better known as EVO. While the main focus of the event is on fighting games tournaments, Mortal Kombat fans were promised a new trailer, so naturally, all eyes were turned in EVO’s direction. To spice things up, Ed Boon teased fans on Twitter with many (pretty direct) references to Reptile. We didn’t know when the trailer was going to drop. Some people lost sleep, others lost their patience…but at last, here we…

Brazilian gaming retailer Cadê Meu Jogo has leaked what is believed to be the final box art for Mortal Kombat 1 ahead of its release next month. While the artwork has since been removed from all product listings, it is plastered all over social media and reveals a yet-to-be-announced single player mode called “Invasions” (if Google Translate is to be believed). Those looking for a separate single-player experience will no doubt be among the first to delve into the new mode, which seemingly allows players to traverse multiple realms and face off against seasonal threats. A single screenshot accompanies the…
