TOASTY! The man behind Mortal Kombat’s most iconic music tracks has announced his retirement from the team after more than three decades. Dan Forden served as one of the original four team members who created the original Mortal Kombat in 1992 alongside Ed Boon, John Tobias and John Vogel. Its unique digitised graphics and gruesome finishing moves aside, a huge part of Mortal Kombat’s appeal came from its catchy soundtrack and crispy sound effects. Game after game he continued to perfect his craft, and although others eventually joined the sound development team his influence remained front and centre. Wednesday was…

As largely expected, Digital Eclipse and Atari have used Evo 2025 to jointly announce the inclusion of Mortal Kombat Trilogy in Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection. Released in 1996, Mortal Kombat Trilogy quickly became a fan favourite, bringing together an enormous roster of kombatants and arenas. Although it was also released for Nintendo 64, it was the PlayStation and PC ports that really resonated with fans as they contained crisper graphics and additional characters. In fact, it is the PlayStation port specifically that will be included with this kollection. While the digital version of Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection is expected in…

The moment you have all been waiting for has arrived: Mortal Kombat II’s official red-band trailer is here. The trailer has garnered so much attention that it has officially become the most viewed red-band trailer of all time, hitting 106.8 million views in only 24 hours. Seemingly centred around Johnny Cage, the trailer sees the failed action star thrust into a violent world he doesn’t fully understand. While the film shares some…

News broke earlier today that a live YouTube event would be held tomorrow beginning 8:05am PT following a number of cryptic tweets by series co-creator Ed Boon and producer Todd Garner. Early reports suggest that the trailer itself will debut at 9am PT. To help build hype for the main trailer, a teaser titled “Uncaged Fury” gives fans their first glimpse of Johnny Cage, who is portrayed by Karl Urban. Sporting attire similar to his appearance in Mortal Kombat 11,…

An eagle-eyed follower of Ludi Lin has made a rather interesting discovery while watching a birthday vlog posted on the actor’s Instagram profile earlier today. The Chinese-Canadian actor (who has been cast as Liu Kang) can be seeing touring numerous trailers in the early hours of the morning, most notably passing by one seemingly shared by the actresses for both Mileena and Nitara. Once the discovery was shared on social media, writer Greg Russo took to Twitter to announce that Nitara has in fact been cast in 2021’s Mortal Kombat. Australian aerialist, stuntwoman, dancer and Pilates teacher Elissa Cadwell joins…

With three of the Kombat Pack’s six kombatants now available, fans have started to look beyond Spawn’s distant March 2020 release date. Sales numbers have proven that there is still plenty of life left in Mortal Kombat 11, which has officially become 2019’s best-selling fighting game in the U.S. up to this point. While some would argue that Mileena fans have been the loudest, there are still many players out there wanting to see their favourite kombatant shown some love, including Fujin, Reiko and Havik. Mortal Kombat X had two seasons of DLC, and we’re convinced that Mortal Kombat 11…
With Halloween fast approaching, NetherRealm Studios have dropped a trailer for their new Masquerade skin pack, introducing “Wicked Witch” Jade, “Calavera” Liu Kang and “Psyko Killer” Kabal. Priced at US$5.99, these premium skins come in a variety of flavours and are available now. The studio have also announced a free Mortal Kombat 11 event for all players in celebration of Halloween. The event will introduce four new boss fights with different Halloween themed modifiers in the form of flying witches and bats, falling pumpkins, rising gravestones and sprinting black cats that will be integrated into matches. Players will also be…
The Terminator (T-800) is now playable for those who purchased Mortal Kombat 11’s Kombat Pack. To celebrate the milestone, NetherRealm Studios have released a render and artwork via the game’s official Twitter page. Although Arnold Schwarzenegger is not voicing the character, we strongly believe that the studio could not have done a better job in their depiction of the Governator. General availability will begin next week for those who do not own the Kombat Pack. Included as part of the update are a number of skins for Johnny Cage, Sonya and Kano, as well as a “Cassie Quinn” skin to…
As fans of the highly successful Terminator franchise prepare for the release of Terminator: Dark Fate later this month, NetherRealm Studios have unveiled the highly anticipated trailer showing the T-800 in action in Mortal Kombat 11. Concealing his signature shotgun in a box of Johnny Cage action figures (a throwback to the iconic mall scene in 1991’s Terminator 2: Judgment Day), a visibly aged Arnold enters battle donning his Dark Fate attire. An impressionist is voicing the T-800 as expected, although fans remain divided on the voiceover’s overall quality. Featuring the likeness of actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, the Terminator T-800 is the ultimate…
Labelled as either a criminal mastermind or psychotic supervillain: there’s no denying that the Clown Prince of Crime turns heads. Following his controversial appearance in the first Kombat Pack trailer released last August, NetherRealm Studios have used the months since to transfigure The Joker into the sharp-faced twisted prankster we have all grown to love or hate. Richard Epcar reprises his voicing role, delivering his strongest performance to date. Joker’s hooked cane makes its return alongside a fresh arsenal of tricks, including jacks-in-the-box, giant boxing gloves, restrained and wheelchair bound hostages, a Batman plush toy, jerry cans and much more.…
