After attending the star-studded premiere of Mortal Kombat II at the IMAX theatre in Sydney, Christopher and Toasty sit down together for the first time to review the film from start to finish.
With the theatrical release of Mortal Kombat II less than two weeks away, Christopher, Toasty and Kung Lew share their hopes, their fears and their final thoughts ahead of its premiere.
Toasty and McCage provide an in-depth analysis and review episodes 3 and 4 of 1998’s Mortal Kombat: Conquest television series, titled Cold Reality and Immortal Kombat respectively.
Toasty is joined by McCage and Kung Lew to breakdown the second trailer for Mortal Kombat II, which premieres worldwide on 8th May 2026.
The second trailer for 2026’s Mortal Kombat II movie has dropped, and is sure to whet more than a few appetites. Once again, protagonist Johnny Cage (Karl Urban) is front and centre, seemingly thrust into a world he doesn’t quite understand. While numerous fan theories currently exist, many believe the film’s first half will focus on the film star while the latter half will focus more on the rise of Kitana and Earthrealm’s warriors against the evil emperor Shao Kahn. Guess we’ll have to wait and see. What do you think of this latest trailer? Be sure to keep an…
TOASTY! The man behind Mortal Kombat’s most iconic music tracks has announced his retirement from the team after more than three decades. Dan Forden served as one of the original four team members who created the original Mortal Kombat in 1992 alongside Ed Boon, John Tobias and John Vogel. Its unique digitised graphics and gruesome finishing moves aside, a huge part of Mortal Kombat’s appeal came from its catchy soundtrack and crispy sound effects. Game after game he continued to perfect his craft, and although others eventually joined the sound development team his influence remained front and centre. Wednesday was…

As largely expected, Digital Eclipse and Atari have used Evo 2025 to jointly announce the inclusion of Mortal Kombat Trilogy in Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection. Released in 1996, Mortal Kombat Trilogy quickly became a fan favourite, bringing together an enormous roster of kombatants and arenas. Although it was also released for Nintendo 64, it was the PlayStation and PC ports that really resonated with fans as they contained crisper graphics and additional characters. In fact, it is the PlayStation port specifically that will be included with this kollection. While the digital version of Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection is expected in…

The moment you have all been waiting for has arrived: Mortal Kombat II’s official red-band trailer is here. The trailer has garnered so much attention that it has officially become the most viewed red-band trailer of all time, hitting 106.8 million views in only 24 hours. Seemingly centred around Johnny Cage, the trailer sees the failed action star thrust into a violent world he doesn’t fully understand. While the film shares some…

As the COVID-19 health pandemic continues to paralyse the globe keeping people at home and workplaces quiet, NetherRealm Studios have dropped a bombshell teaser trailer late this evening. As its “The Saga Continues” tagline suggests, the teaser largely features Raiden and Liu Kang discussing their combined victory over Kronika following the events of Mortal Kombat 11’s blockbuster story mode. Earning ultimate power over Kronika’s Hourglass, Liu Kang sets out to architect a new timeline before a familiar voice interrupts him. Stepping in through a newly opened portal accompanied by two mystery kombatants, Shang Tsung commands Liu Kang to cease before…
It comes as no secret that motion capture has been a fundamental component in the pursuit of fluid and realistic gaming animation for well over a decade. While technology has improved substantially in recent years, facial animation has often proven difficult with varying results across studios. 2011’s L.A. Noire (developed by the now defunct Australian studio Team Bondi and published by Rockstar Games) pioneered a new form of facial capture that brought a sense of realism to its character models, allowing players to interact with suspects and other investigators as if it were real life. At the time facial capture…
In what may be one of the franchise’s worst-kept secrets, question marks are once again hovering over the inclusion of Ash Williams as DLC for Mortal Kombat 11. Following the announcement of the Kombat Pack back in August of 2019, fans were expecting The Evil Dead’s protagonist to make an appearance alongside Shang Tsung, Nightwolf, The Terminator, Sindel and Spawn. The evidence sure seemed to add up, with an entry for Ash discovered in the game’s files, a dialog in the game itself referring to the character, and a coincidental tweet from actor Bruce Campbell himself referring to Mortal Kombat…
The sixth and final kombatant to join the Mortal Kombat 11 roster in what is widely believed to be the first Kombat Pack has almost arrived. Officially revealed at Final Kombat, Todd McFarlane’s Spawn will join Shang Tsung, Nightwolf, Sindel and fellow guest characters The Terminator and The Joker come March 17 for Kombat Pack owners. Al Simmons, once the U.S. government’s greatest soldier and most effective assassin, was mercilessly executed by his own men. Resurrected from the ashes of his own grave in a flawed agreement with the powers of darkness, Simmons is reborn as a creature from the…
Arriving on digital platforms on April 12 and physical media on April 28, Mortal Kombat: Scorpion’s Revenge focuses largely on the ensuing battle between Earthrealm and Outworld during 1992’s Mortal Kombat. Featuring updated attire from both Mortal Kombat (2011) and Mortal Kombat X, the trailer reveals that all of the original title’s kombatants will be present, as well as some introduced in Mortal Kombat II and later games. These include Johnny Cage, Kano, Raiden, Liu Kang, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Sonya, Goro, Shang Tsung, Reptile, Kitana, Baraka, Jax and Quan Chi. Based on the worldwide hit game created by Ed Boon &…
NetherRealm Studios have updated the official Mortal Kombat 11 website with the biographies of Fujin, Sheeva and RoboCop. The three kombatants merely scratch the surface of Aftermath’s enormity, which also sees the introduction of an expanded story and the return of Friendships and Stage Fatalities, as well as additional arenas and skins. The God of Wind, Fujin serves the Elder Gods alongside his brother, Raiden, as Protectors of Earthrealm. Affable and lighthearted, he’s adept at inspiring peoples’ innate capacity for goodness and heroism to conquer forces of hatred and tyranny. Fujin believes Earthrealm’s best days are still to come, and…
