The second trailer for 2026’s Mortal Kombat II movie has dropped, and is sure to whet more than a few appetites. Once again, protagonist Johnny Cage (Karl Urban) is front and centre, seemingly thrust into a world he doesn’t quite understand. While numerous fan theories currently exist, many believe the film’s first half will focus on the film star while the latter half will focus more on the rise of Kitana and Earthrealm’s warriors against the evil emperor Shao Kahn. Guess we’ll have to wait and see. What do you think of this latest trailer? Be sure to keep an…
TOASTY! The man behind Mortal Kombat’s most iconic music tracks has announced his retirement from the team after more than three decades. Dan Forden served as one of the original four team members who created the original Mortal Kombat in 1992 alongside Ed Boon, John Tobias and John Vogel. Its unique digitised graphics and gruesome finishing moves aside, a huge part of Mortal Kombat’s appeal came from its catchy soundtrack and crispy sound effects. Game after game he continued to perfect his craft, and although others eventually joined the sound development team his influence remained front and centre. Wednesday was…

As largely expected, Digital Eclipse and Atari have used Evo 2025 to jointly announce the inclusion of Mortal Kombat Trilogy in Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection. Released in 1996, Mortal Kombat Trilogy quickly became a fan favourite, bringing together an enormous roster of kombatants and arenas. Although it was also released for Nintendo 64, it was the PlayStation and PC ports that really resonated with fans as they contained crisper graphics and additional characters. In fact, it is the PlayStation port specifically that will be included with this kollection. While the digital version of Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection is expected in…

Hello Kamidogu! My name is Dustin, and I am the new kid on the block here. So, I thought I would drop in and introduce myself and some of my experience with this franchise we all know and love. At nearly 40 years old I have the distinct pleasure of having been around since the beginning. I have many fond memories of pumping quarters into EVERY MK1 machine I could find and losing myself to the one true tournament of champions. Since then I have been hooked. From arcade cabinets to home consoles I have devoured every iteration of this…
The final curtain has fallen as NetherRealm Studios announce that they are moving on from Mortal Kombat 11 after supporting the title for more than two years. First announced in 2018 at The Game Awards by series co-creator Ed Boon, Mortal Kombat 11 was released in 2019 and has proven to be one of the studio’s most refined and supported titles. Shipping with a base roster of 25 kombatants, a further 12 were later added across a number of releases (Shang Tsung, Nightwolf, Sindel, The Joker, Spawn, The Terminator, Fujin, RoboCop, Sheeva, Rambo, Rain and Mileena). Despite the challenges imposed…

There’s no denying that Black Dragon mercenary Kabal is a complete and utter badass in 2021’s Mortal Kombat movie reboot. Although his character was voiced by Damon Herriman in the film, Kabal’s fast moving physical portrayal was handled by New Zealand born stunt actor Daniel Nelson. Aside from Mortal Kombat, Daniel has been involved with a number of big budget productions, including Godzilla vs. Kong, Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge and the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder. Taking a break from his post-release duties, Daniel sat down with Kamidogu to answer a bunch of questions related to the film…
Take a trip down memory lane back to 1995 and you’d be hard pressed to forget the success that was the original Mortal Kombat movie. While video game movies largely receive negative reviews, Mortal Kombat became an instant classic, ageing like fine wine with its strong cast and unforgettable one-liners. Conversely 1997’s sequel Mortal Kombat: Annihilation was likened by both fans and critics as a dumpster fire, leaving many to believe that movies based on the franchise were done and dusted. Fast forward, however, and the future looks bright with the release of 2021’s Mortal Kombat reboot a little over…
As anticipation for the first Mortal Kombat feature film in 24 years continues to grow, Warner Bros. have released a behind-the-scenes featurette to help appease fans’ appetites. Director Simon McQuoid speaks of his desire to respect both the material and fans of the franchise, and hopes that 2021’s reboot of Mortal Kombat elevates it to an all new cinematic height. The featurette also shows off a number of already seen characters, including a better look at Kabal and Reiko in the flesh. Intertwined between masses of new footage are many of the key actors giving their take on the film.…
Twitter user @JustMKollum is one part of a development studio called Eyeballistic Game Studio who are currently working on a 4K remake of Mortal Kombat Trilogy. Joining JustMKollum we have team head Joe Tresca (@calactyte), and between these two feeds we have been given a TON of eye candy from the project. There seems to be some great headway being made. We can see in their Twitter feeds that there are a great amount of assets that have been translated to 3D. So far we have been given 3D sprites for MK3 Scorpion, MK1 Scorpion, MK1 Sub-Zero, Sektor, Cyrax, Sheeva,…
